Recently, Ryan applied for a job as a bouncer at one of the local nightclubs. He had studied gatka, ninjitsu, judo, karate, and aikido for nine years; he was a body builder; he took daily minerals, supplements, and vitamins; he was into health foods and healthy eating; and he seemed well suited for such a job. When Ryan received notification that he had been selected for the job, he was very satisfied. Since this was a special club, however, he had to go through a four week training class.
On the first day of class, the instructor started talking about individuals who drink excessively and what the bouncers, bartenders, and barmaids should do when this circumstance arises. When the instructor started talking about alcohol poisoning, Ryan was pleased to learn that all of the new employees had to learn about an alcohol overdose and precisely what they should do when they noticed a drinker who was displaying alcohol poisoning symptoms or displaying alcohol poisoning signs.
More specifically, all the new employees learned that nausea and vomiting were almost without exception one of the first signs of alcohol poisoning and that unconsciousness was possibly the most highly perceptible alcohol poisoning symptom or sign. The teacher also made it a point to emphasize the fact that alcohol poisoning symptoms were signals from the body and from the brain that the individual had consumed more alcohol than his or her body can metabolize.
There were, nevertheless, numerous other signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning that all the new employees were taught to be familiar with. For instance, the class members discovered that people who experience alcohol poisoning are difficult to awaken, exhibit poor reflex responses, exhibit confusion, and they often have seizures.
Not only this but, the members of the class were made aware that many individuals who experience alcohol poisoning also manifest blue tinged or pale skin; slurred speech; little response from painful stimuli, for instance from pinching; and slow, shallow or irregular breathing.
To illustrate the influence that binge drinking has on alcohol poisoning, the teacher told the class that an individual who gets intoxicated once or twice annually is, by definition, engaging in alcohol abuse. Such a person, however, is almost certainly not an alcoholic, but is probably engaging in binge drinking. As stated by the lecturer, engaging in binge drinking even once, sadly, can result in an alcohol overdose that in some cases can be fatal.
The instructor then told the members of the class that the best response for alcohol poisoning is the following: if it is assumed that a person has alcohol poisoning, call 911 and ask for immediate medical assistance, even if the individual is underage. By taking this course of action, the person will get the prompt alcohol poisoning medical attention he or she requires.
After learning about alcohol poisoning and especially about the signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning, it may be noted, Ryan believed that he had learned some valuable information that might save an individual's life in the distant future. To be sure, Ryan learned that knowledge of the mainstream alcohol poisoning signs and symptoms and knowing how to quickly and properly react to such signs and symptoms (by immediately calling 911 and asking for urgent medical assistance) can help an individual avoid a lethal alcohol overdose.
