Mr. Johnson was one of the health instructors at a medium size country high school in the far Western part of the United States. For "Alcohol Alertness Month" he arrived at a decision that he would give his attention to the following three topics for a class assignment: the symptoms of alcoholism, the signs of alcoholism, and alcoholic symptoms.
After Mr. Johnson finished the topics that would be dispensed to his pupils, he made a decision that he would supply them with their assignment the following Wednesday morning. When "assignment day" finally came, Mr. Johnson met with his students, handed out some important research data, and then notified the members of his class about the topics he ultimately selected.
He then gave the students in his class an outline of some relevant signs of alcoholism and emphasized how imperative it is to figure out how to relate these facts, symptoms, and statistics with the everyday circumstances of alcohol addicted people. He then gave the members of his class a short and to the point explanation about the significance of learning more about alcohol addicted individuals and how they exist on an everyday basis.
Mr. Johnson notified the students in his class that they could concentrate on one of the three topics or talk about all three topics and how they are interlinked. In brief this would be not unlike a basic abstract but done in a more comprehensive way.
Another alternative that he offered to the students in his class was the following: choose a topic such as alcohol addiction signs and symptoms, research things in a more comprehensive way, and then discuss two or three symptoms and signs. Mr. Johnson then pointed out the fact that the same rationale applies to the other two topics, namely, alcoholic symptoms and the symptoms of alcoholism.
The end result of their investigation would be a six thousand word essay and then a twenty-five minute oral presentation that would be given in front of the class. As a reward for their superior scholarly attainment, the students with the top three overall grades on the essay and on the presentation will be asked to present the findings from their research project at the district drug and alcohol addiction convention during the last week of March.
As confirmed by Mr. Johnson, because there are more than a few alcohol dependency signs and symptoms to select, he brought up the fact that he was not exceedingly apprehensive about more than one student opting for the same signs and symptoms for their class assignment. Certainly, even if more than one student was to choose identical symptoms and signs, the illustrations that are associated with each symptom or sign would unquestionably add enough assortment to steer clear of different students presenting identical content.
Mr. Johnson then pointed out the fact that while there are many alcohol dependency symptoms and signs that could be chosen, the variety of alcohol dependency statistics and facts that could be listed were nearly without limit. When the topic of alcoholic symptoms was added to the discussion, additionally, the students in the classroom understood pretty promptly that the three topics would supply a considerable amount of data from which to select.
Why did Mr. Johnson pick the symptoms of alcoholism, the signs of alcoholism, and alcoholic symptoms as the topics for this research project? Mr. Johnson thought that by elevating the understanding of his students about the destructive consequences of alcohol dependency and the grim daily routines suffered by alcohol dependent individuals, his pupils might think more carefully before they got involved in careless and excessive drinking behavior.
